“Rosemary oil isn’t a miracle cure, but many people use it completely incorrectly” - An interview with Tom Hannemann

„Rosmarinöl ist kein Wundermittel, aber viele nutzen es komplett falsch“ – Im Gespräch mit Tom Hannemann

Rosemary oil is currently often discussed as a solution for hair growth. But does it really help, or is it just a short-term trend? We spoke with hairdressing trainer and hair expert Tom Hannemann (@.the.beautiful.people), with whom we spoke, and who specializes in ingredients, hair care, and active ingredient analysis. He regularly shares his assessments of beauty products on social media and explains trends in an easy-to-understand way.

Can rosemary oil, specifically NEQI rosemary hair oil, help with hair growth?

Tom: Yes, but you have to understand how. Rosemary oil can promote blood circulation in the scalp. This provides the hair follicles with a better supply of nutrients, which can support hair growth.
But it is not a miracle cure and does not replace medical treatment.

Why do many people still see no results?

Tom: Because they use it incorrectly. Often, the oil is applied only briefly and then washed out immediately. Or it is not properly massaged into the scalp. Stimulating the scalp is a central part of the effect. If this is missing, there will be no effect either.

How should it be used correctly?

Tom:

  • Apply to the scalp
  • Massage it in thoroughly
  • Leave it on for at least 10 to 20 minutes
  • Wash it out afterward

And consistently, about one to three times a week. Regular use is essential.

Many people associate hair growth with expensive products. What do you think?

Tom: That is a common misconception. Rosemary oil is one of the simpler and more affordable options. Only a small amount is needed per application, so one bottle lasts relatively long. Compared with other solutions, which are often significantly more expensive, it is a straightforward option that can be easily integrated into your routine.

Are there differences between rosemary oil products?

Tom: Yes. A good product does not consist of rosemary oil alone. It is often combined with other oils that provide additional care and make application more pleasant. This is important because pure oils can quickly feel too heavy.

Who is rosemary oil particularly suitable for?

Tom:

  • For thinning hair
  • For hair breakage
  • For a dry scalp

It is particularly suitable for people who want to improve their hair care routine over the long term.

And when is it less suitable?

Tom: This will not be enough in cases of severe or hormone-related hair loss. Those who expect quick results are also likely to be disappointed.

What can you realistically expect from NEQI rosemary oil?

Tom:

  • a healthier scalp
  • less hair breakage
  • stronger hair in the long term

However, this does not happen in the short term, but over a longer period of time.

Conclusion

Rosemary oil is neither ineffective nor a miracle solution.
The key is using it correctly and having realistic expectations. Those who use it regularly and see it as part of a long-term routine can benefit from it.
