Interview with Alberto Morillas

What inspires you when you create a fragrance?
I draw inspiration from an emotion that I want to translate into a fragrance. These feelings and moods become the essential notes that make each of my creations unique. For example, the joy of a sunny afternoon, the tranquility of a quiet morning, or the passion of a romantic evening - all these emotions are captured and distilled into fragrances that can be enjoyed anew every day.

What is your approach to the creative process?
The creative process may involve recreating a landscape, a flower, or a pleasant moment. I begin by immersing myself completely in the experience, capturing its essence, and then carefully selecting and blending notes to evoke the desired emotional response. For example, if I want to recreate the tranquility of a beach holiday, I combine the freshness of marine notes with the warmth of sun-kissed grains of sand and the subtle sweetness of coastal flowers to create a fragrance that transports you directly to that place.

Are there fragrances that are particularly suitable for summer? What would you recommend?
Yes, certain fragrances are particularly suitable for summer because they capture the season's vitality and freshness. I recommend Acqua di Gio and CK One. Acqua di Gio offers a refreshing aquatic fragrance that embodies the spirit of the sea, while CK One is a clean, citrusy fragrance that is both invigorating and timeless, making it perfect for warm summer days.

What does summer smell like to you? What are typical summer fragrances?
To me, summer smells like the invigorating scent of the sea, which evokes a feeling of strength and relaxation. It also reminds me of the purity of a mountain landscape, characterized by mineral and woody notes. These fragrances capture the essence of different summer environments - from the salty ocean breeze to the clear, fresh mountain air - and merge into a harmonious scent that embodies the spirit of the season.

Where should one apply a fragrance?
For men, I recommend applying the fragrance to the chest. This allows the scent to rise subtly throughout the day and create a constant presence. For women, the nape of the neck and wrists are ideal areas. These pulse points generate warmth, which disperses the fragrance and enhances its longevity, enveloping you in a delicate veil of scent.

Have you created any other products besides perfumes?
Yes, I have created candles for Mizensir, which is my own company. These candles are made with the same meticulous attention and dedication to quality as my fragrances, transforming spaces into fragrant oases that evoke specific moods and atmospheres.

What is the difference between creating a regular fragrance and a fragrance for a hair care line?
There is no fundamental difference; it is an act of creation, a process of capturing a unique moment and emotion. Whether it is a personal perfume or a fragrance for a hair care line, the goal is the same: to create a sensory experience that resonates on a deep, emotional level and enriches everyday life with a touch of luxury and sophistication.

What are your next projects?
I have many new projects in development, most of them perfumes for men and women. These upcoming creations will continue to explore new olfactory territories, pushing the boundaries of what a fragrance can evoke and offering fresh, innovative scents that appeal to the contemporary wearer.
